Adam's 1 month doc visit

Adam went to his 1 month exam and shots yesterday.  He did very well and weighed 11lbs 8oz.  (yes he is a load to carry).

At the 1 month mark he is alot more alert and interested in things.  His eyes can follow activity and his head is on a swivel (though not quite strong enough to keep it up).

Looking good in his Nike gear.

Dad's first night shift with Adam

So easy street is over with Jen's mom leaving but everything went pretty smooth (from Dad's point of view anyway).  Adam didn't really get to sleep until after 10pm  so when Dad woke up at 3:45am with no Adam noise he was pretty excited :P.  I woke him up to feed and he went back to sleep and woke up at 6:50am.

Lets hope that this is the norm and not some one off psychological experiment by Adam.

再見祖母

Well tonight was Jen's Moms last night in town.  She is off to San Francisco with Joyce and then back to Taiwan.  We enjoyed her stay and Jen definitely enjoyed her cooking.  Thanks for all the help with Adam and we look forward to seeing you again (in the USA, Dad isn't too excited about the big hop with 2 kids).

Nick and Dad visit the dump

We had a bit of an interruption (i.e. Adam) so the Xmas trees had been waiting patiently in the bed of the truck.  Well today was the day to say hasta la vista so Nick and Dad took a ride in the truck to the dump.  Only room for 2 so it was a boys day out.  We tried to catch a hot air balloon but it disappeared.

Nick showing everyone his apple.

The big recycle bin.

Obligatory Adam shot showing what he does best. We Love you buddy!

Adam's first visit to the park

Today being a perfect day we took the kids to the park.  Adam did what he does best and so did Nick.  Not sure if Adam enjoyed himself but Nick did.

A career found?

Perhaps we have Nick's future career.  If you look through the pictures on picasa you will notice a few point of view pictures, they would be from our young photog.

Adam is doing good

Our little guy is doing very well.  Lots more awake time and awareness while awake.  The nights go between 1 to 2 times waking to eat but mostly he goes back to sleep after eating.  The first picture shows his attitude in the evening, Feed Me!  Having to give him something almost hourly from 8pm to 10pm, maybe chowing down during a growth spurt.  The next picture is some tummy time.  He did it with Jen and she said he enjoyed it and held his head up pretty good.  Eagle eyes out there will notice the eye brows and eye lashes coming in.

Gimme some of that food stuff.

There is something under the couch, can't quite reach it...

Light rail

Our first time on the light rail trains was sucessful.  Nick and Dad did the Park and ride at McClintock and Apache and rode it to downtown ($2.50 for an adult all day pass).  Too bad downtown kinda sux.  The trains were nice and as long as you have a seat it was a good ride.  The time waiting for a train was a bit long (Sunday... not as often?).  Would I ride it?  If I lived by it and I was going to something near the line yes, otherwise not so much.

Got our E-ticket

New theme and updates

I changed the theme of the blog for one reason mainly, the youtube videos were getting cut off on the right side.  The new theme is pretty different but I like it, hopefully everyone else does as well.

Adam is doing well, a big milestone today.  His umbilical cord fell off today as well as the official end of vaseline on the peepee make this a day to remember.  Now I can do the diaper change in no time and not worry about "stuff".  He is waking twice a night around 1 and 5am for feeding, sometimes he sleeps after the 1am feeding, sometimes not (thanks to Grandma for the night shift).  Still pretty mellow overall.

Nick is doing well, he and Dad went to the Suns game (well first half anyway) on Friday and mostly had a good time.  It was a late start so Nick was tired and the crowd was into the game so those two things don't mix well.  Our section was the "party zone" and so we got streamers - not sure how I didn't get a shirt with a kid in my hands... - and Nick enjoyed them.  In fact he is still enjoying them.

Go Suns

ps. Go Cards, big win in Carolina

Tiltshifting

I found an interesting method of playing around with pictures called tiltshifting.  It makes regular pictures of real places look like minatures.  Below is a picture of the Grand Canyon (looks like a minature ehh?).  It seems to work best for wide pictures from above.  An easy way to make the pictures is at the website tiltshiftmaker.com.  They also have good example pictures, I like the Paris / Bellagio picture.  Have fun with it.

Doesn't looks so Grand to me.

Nick at Tumbleweed park

Usually when we go to the park we go after dinner to the one by the house.  Today I grabbed Nick for a visit to Tumbleweed park for some before dinner fun.  He had a good time as we haven't been to this park for a while.  He visited all his old favorites and even found a couple new things to do.  The tire swing was a first and he liked that a lot (though it didn't last for to long) and he also found a big branch that he did play with for a while.  It was pretty cute.

Big boys ride on big tires.

Always carry a big stick.

Adam in motion

Here is a quick video of Adam at the hospital.  He was awake for a while for the first time so I grabbed the camera to capture it.

Professional Catering service

When the Kuhls retire they should start a catering business.  They could book a flight to Mars with their profits.

We got a special delivery from said Kuhls and decided to get right to it and eat.  Everyone (except Adam) enjoyed the meal.  Forgive the presentation, Dad was in charge of the meal since Mom has Pink eye!

Smile, they might bring more!

Adam's first outing

While Adam's first trip out of the house was the doc his first outing was to the playground with the family.  Nick played while Adam does what he does best, Chilled.  Mom got a bunch of the zip up onsies (the only way to fly).  We also tested out the new stroller for the first time.  The front carries the little one and the back the toddler can either sit or stand, worked out really well.

Rollin' double style.

A bit of info about Adam

So after a few days with the little guy we are getting to know him a bit better.

Things he likes:
To pee with no diaper
To be held
Lights to be off so he can look around
To be kept nice and warm
To be held by his big brother

Things he doesn't like:
Diaper changes
Headbutts from his brother
To be swaddled

Last night he woke up at 1am and fed and then slept until 6 when Grandma woke him up to feed, that is good news for when Mom and Dad are doing the night shift in a month.

Adam's first doctor visit

Adam had his first visit to the doc today and everything went perfect.  He was 8lbs 10oz so he lost 11oz which isn't a whole lot, still 21.5".

Close Encounter

Nick and Dad where heading out to have some mall fun when we noticed a couple of balloons low to the ground in an odd spot, a random dirt lot where a Walgreens is being built.  It caught our attention and we went to explore.  Nick had a great time watching the balloons crash and getting to see them up close.

Crash

Up close.

Good job Adam

While at first glance having the same bday as your pop might not be cool the facts do not bear that out,  We are guaranteed a free lunch every year.  No way Mom turns down two free meals in one day!

See you Dec 30 Joe.

The day after

So how did the night go? Overall not as bad as it could have gone but not a picnic either. For some reason Adam wanted to be held most of the time, when he was he was an angel. Unfortunately that meant someone was awake the whole time. Nick also woke up just to add to the fun. Of course now during the day Adam is conched out on the couch with no problem...

This is the life.
