Is your child sleeping?

Ok, this is a crack up. So the teachers take pictures of the kids occasionally and today they took a picture of each kid at 1:15pm with the title, "It is 1:15, is your child sleeping." Most were not, and by the looks of it Nick was one of the sleepers. A note on the picture debunks that and says that he was just faking sleeping, Classic Nick.

Pretending to sleep.

What a day

A day in the life as it were.

Nick is doing great, though he is Mom's boy for sure. He loves to pretend, in fact we have a great new saying (in Dad's mind anyway). He was pretending to be Dr. Novy (our pediatrician) and was fixing Mom who was broken in multiple places. Later he was kicking the soccer ball and said, "You can't stop Noby!" We thought that was hilarious.

Adam, well his is an riddle wrapped in an enigma. He is learning a lot and becoming a little boy. He understands a lot of things like, "go wash your hands," or "time to eat," or his favorite, "lets go outside." This one however is Daddy's boy and when out of site it can get ugly, we are definitely trying to break that habit.

Mom is doing well, she is training for a half marathon (and getting sucked into Lost on Netflix). We shall wish her luck on June 6 in SD (Dad wishes her luck on the 5th in Escondido but that is something totally different). Her knee is a bit of a problem but some training on the cushy treadmill will hopefully fix her up. Go MOM!

Dad, well he is doing what he does best, drinking some Stone 12th Anniversary Ale we got while in Cali for Legoland / Disneyland. Delicious.

Party at our house on Memorial day, bring your trunks and some good beer.

Adam the orderer

I forgot to mention that when we were in Carlsbad, our little dynamo ordered a friggin pay per view. The movie was the Wolfman and gave Nick quite a start while I tried to figure out what the heck just happened. Adam almost did it again today, trying to order a movie at home (just hitting buttons of course, but still!).

Below is Adam sporting some hip sunglasses and knowing just exactly who it the...

Bomb.

Nick and Micah go to the Zoo

Today the family +1 went to the Zoo. That +1 was our friend Micah, a former classmate of Nick. We got there a little late but we spent the whole morning plus an hour being busy little beavers. From the Giraffes, Elephants, petting zoo, turkey, horse, camel ride, water play, carousel to the tree house, we packed a lot into the morning. Adam ran out of steam after the carousel so we went back to the car to nap while Mom and the friends hung out at the tree house. Everyone had fun and plenty of sun to wear them out.

Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo.

The two cuties riding a camel.

Carousel time (Nick said this was his favorite).

Pool season

The pool season is open (for 1.5 people anyway). My goal was simply to brush the pool to get it ready for the eventual openning. Some feet got wet and then Nick was ready to go in. On goes the life vest and away he went. Adam was less enthusiactic but did enjoy getting his feet wet, splashing and throwing stuff for Nick to retreave. Dad, well, feet were as far as I was going.

First wade of the season.

First swim of the season.

Fun Facts from California

In Semi-chronological order (per my poor memory).

- Carl's Jr has a wicked play area but pass on the jalapeƱo burger, you will regret it half an hour later in between Blythe and San Diego.

- Stone Breweries waterfall is great for sending ships (aka fallen leaves) down.

- Go to the flower fields in Carlsbad CA between Feb and May (I think, ends in May for sure), a flower fiesta that you won't see anywhere else.

- I kept a 2L growler cold for a week to bring back home and enjoy. At Disneyland the fridge was smaller and we bought groceries, Jen was aghast when she saw the fruit didn't make it in the fridge but the beer did.

- You need to drink a growler with a Nitrogen infused beer quickly, it goes flat quick!

- Disneyland Grand is a great location, should try it at least once.

- Adam is learning a lot right now. He went to Mom at the hotel and said, "Mama, where's Dada?"

- Adam is a master at taking shoes and socks off. I cannot even count how many times we had to pick up socks and shoes during stroller rides.

- Every sentence from Nick involves the word why.

- Nick forgets about hitting his nogin about 15.5min from time of injury (including what not to do to incur said injury).

- Wi-Fi and 3G coverage sucks in Disneyland, resulting in lots of "it stopped, oh it started again" of Bob the Builder on Netflix while using the iPad.

- The toy story picture in a box was done early in the morning the first day it was out. That thing will be disgusting by noon (helped by Adam's hand full of saliva on it).

Supposed to be more but I got busy and forgot the rest. Still a good list though.

Back from Cali - Good times

We just got back from a week in California, 3 days in Carlsbad for Legoland and 3+1 days at Disneyland. The trip over was uneventful (which is good when there is a 3yr old and 1yr old on board). The first night was an obligatory stop at Stone and then the fun started with a couple days at Legoland and a morning at the Flower Fields. Everyone had a good time at each spot, looks like a possible contender for best picture of Nick at the Flower Fields.

We stayed at the California Grand while at Disneyland it was great. The room was nice though not a ton of room. You pay for the location and the location was awesome. Ease of coming and going make Disneyland a whole new experience, in a good way. Got a few rides on Toy Story (was broken more often then not) and even rode the swinging gondola with the kids (movie to come with a not so excited Adam).

Overall another great trip.
