From the Pirate and Wolverine

We just got back from our trip to California.  We went to San Diego first, visited Sea World, the beach and the hotel pool (oh and a brewery or two).  We had a great time except the resulting sunburn on Dad for the rest of the trip (tip: don't forget to sunscreen your back).

Then we drove up to LA and went to Disney for 4 days  Each day we had a great time and ended up very tired.  On Friday we had a long day at Disneyland and then came home and went swimming for 2.5hrs, well the kids did anyway.  A couple of nice girls played with them and they all had a great time.

We are now back and the kids are at Grandma's for a couple days (thanks Grandma).

The boys enjoyed the Easter Bunny hiding the eggs (though Nick note he didn't do a very good job of hiding them).  They had a good time hunting the eggs and then we enjoyed some of Mom's french toast, a fan favorite for sure.

Chinese class performance.

Tis the spring season in Arizona and now time to start Tball.  This is the first time in baseball for Nick so he is in a league lower than I might normally put him.  He should learn the skills quick and be able to move up next time.  Thus he is on the same team as Adam.  Adam really took to practice (and taking water breaks).  This is Adam's first organized sport so big day for him.

So some times we chill out, other times we are ridiculously active. This last week leaned towards the later.  First and foremost (mostly for the fact that it is unlikely to happen again) Dad ran a Marathon.  That was crazy, 4hrs and 27min of running, avg of 10:12 per mile for 26.2 miles.  I tend not to get to too wrapped up in my activities but this one, well I will be happy for.  It is a Long Damn Way.  I was happy to see Jen and the kids at the 20mile mark, it got me from a rough patch at 17mi to the 20mi in a good frame of mind.


While I had a good run, Adam had a good transition from toddlers (how was he a toddler after about 2 weeks into his 2nd birthday) as he moved to A2 under Mr. Will and Mrs. Patrice.  He is loving his new room (though missing his Barb and Yoyo and Holly and Sharon) and most enjoys his new play ground.


Nick is excelling at soccer.  He is scoring at a nice clip, hopefully he is able to keep it up later in life.  After this session he will move to baseball and maybe some basket ball.  Soccer if my favorite so I hope he likes it the most but we will let him decide.  As for soccer, I think he would end up as a defender, he will score about 10 goals a game but will talk to me about the 4 goals he stopped during the game.

Adam just had his 3yr check up.  He is doing really well, talkative and learning.  He loves to play football with Nick which consists of Nick running with the ball and Adam takeling Nick, generally with a few shots to Nick's head.

We are having his party in a couple weeks to space it out from xmas a little bit.  Emily is also visiting so she will get to enjoy the festivities (and weather).

Adam is our big guy.
