So a nice long trip gets a nice long post. We spent a week in Carlsbad CA with the goal of drinking good beer, visiting the beach, going to Legoland and running a half marathon (in that order, at least for me). Most of that worked out, the half marathon did not. While on said beach, Jen took a fall and ended up with some mashed up toes, leaving me to fend for myself the next morning (never a good idea). I overslept and ended up missing the race and running on the beach instead, not quite as fulfilling but a very nice time if I say so myself.
Anyway, we stayed with Uncle Herb, Aunt Bev and Grandma in a house that was a block from the beach and 3 blocks from Pizza Port so the beach and beer were definitely covered. Legoland was but a short drive as well.
Nick specifically LOVED the beach, he couldn't get enough of it, actually I guess he could as the last day we wanted to get him up early hunt for seashells and he was like, "yea no thanks, to tired." Other than that though he was a castle making, wave hunting, mound of sand climbing maniac (in a good way). Adam liked the beach but not the ocean, he could definitely do without the water. He was content to stay on dry land and enjoy all that digging and climbing had to offer.

After a few days at the beach it was time to go to Legoland. One day turned out to be enough for the Uncle and Aunt so mad respect to Grandma for doing the 2 days of fun. The boys had fun with all parts of the park and were pretty worn out at the end of each day. They both liked the kids area where you jump on the circles to make music and shoot water at the alligators.
Nice picture of the boys.
Glass is good.
Hi Mr. Octopus
Adam ready to watch Bob the Builder in 3D.
A second nice picture of the boys.
The second to last day was a visit to the SD Zoo. The weather was chilly but I will take that over the Phx Zoo in July anyday. The boys liked the play area the best, Dad liked the Hippos and Mom liked the Pandas the best I think.

Thanks to all that were involved, especially to Mom for finding such a classy joint close to the beer, I mean beach (I don't really mean that). It was nice to feel at home while on vacation. And thanks to Grandma for watching the kiddos.
